Neonatology focuses on preventing and treating issues that arise during the foetal, intrapartum, or neonatal periods. Our neonatologists at MAVJAT offer expert medical care and provide information and support to newborn families. Our experienced team is available 24/7 to care for critically ill premature and full-term infants. Common reasons for NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) care include premature birth, birth asphyxia, pulmonary hypoplasia, low birth weight, sepsis, and congenital malformations. MAVJAT Hospital has a "state-of-the-art" level II NICU set-up, with an attached perinatal centre that includes high-risk obstetrics, under one roof.

Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)

Antenatal counselling and intervention:
For high-risk pregnancies and expected premature babies, prior in-detail counselling by a neonatal intensivist for planning medical and surgical care for neonates is provided at MAVJAT Hospital.

  • In-utero transfer for high risk obstetric patients
  • 24x7 consultant presence on site
  • Central O2, compressed air system, & central suction system
  • Conventional ventilator, high frequency ventilators, and inhaled nitric oxide therapy
  • Non-invasive ventilator facilities, like Bubble-CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), Airvo 2
  • Continuous haemodynamic monitoring; multipara monitor
  • In-house arterial blood gas (ABG), lab, and radiological facilities
